Can't jump onto land from water or climb up stairs in Old-type worlds
I can't jump onto land from the water, and if I go underwater, the game lags for a moment. Sometimes I am able to jump out of the water onto land, however, I’ve forgotten how I did that.

Confirmed in 1.9.0 on Windows 10.
In an Old-type world, you cannot jump out of water 1 block deep onto a block that is in a chunk along the southern or eastern edge of the world. The problem does not occur in other chunks, including those on the western or northern edges.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open the attached world
MCPE-42058demo.mcworld. - Go to coordinates -40, 62, 111 facing south. This is in water, just outside a chunk on the southern edge of the world.
- Try to jump out of the water onto the block at -40, 62, 112. You do not succeed.
- Turn right, facing east.
- Try to jump out of the water onto the block at -41, 62, 111. You succeed.
- Go to coordinates 159, 62, -126 facing east. This is in water, just outside a chunk on the eastern edge of the world.
- Try to jump out of the water onto the block at 160, 62, -126. You do not succeed.
- Turn left, facing north.
- Try to jump out of the water onto the block at 159, 62, -127. You succeed.

The old world doesnt save at all, takes abnormally long too save, says its saved but nothing or is unable too save when windows gets out of sleep mode/idle/minimization these things have actually happened too me about 4 times requiring me too alt-f4 the game too get out of the softlock its stuck in (this is the same world I have bug that the bug MCPE-42058 exists in so it may be correlated)
I think justin jones solution may work for others because when i originally did that it worked and it reappeared on all the skins i had it equipped However just now due too restarting my minecraft because it was softlocked due too MCPE-42058 it has disappeared again
Is that in an old type world? Then MCPE-42058 describes your issue.
Oops! Looks like bugsbugsbugs was right, then. I was thinking that coordinates within an Old-type world were always within the range -256 to 256, but that must be wrong.
Since you had this problem in an Old-type world, it looks like it's the same issue as MCPE-42058, so I will close this as a duplicate. If it turns out you can reproduce this issue in a Flat-type or Infinite-type world, please comment about it and I'll decide whether we need to reopen this ticket.

There are other reports addressing issue however I thought I would try to make a more effective bug report so we can make it easier to confirm since the others are marked as "Unconfirmed" and "Awaiting Response." The ones I've found are MCPE-89340, MCPE-124782, MCPE-129522. These reports describe the issue in previous versions. I only added the current version since I cannot personally confirm previous versions. This issue may be related to MCPE-42058 since they are all movement related issues that happen at the edge of an old size world.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new world with "World Type" set to "Old"
2. Go within 16 blocks of 2 of the 4 world borders
3. Crouch and walk off of an edge of a block
Observed Results:
The player falls off the edge of the block
Expected Results:
The player is prevented from falling off the edge of the block

Can Confirm on an old-sized world the corners of my world I find I literally cannot jump from water to land but a few blocks over, I can.
Confirmed in 1.9.0 on Windows 10.
In an Old-type world, you cannot jump out of water 1 block deep onto a block that is in a chunk along the southern or eastern edge of the world. The problem does not occur in other chunks, including those on the western or northern edges.
Steps to reproduce:
MCPE-42058demo.mcworld.This issue also prevents autojump from working, and it also applies to climbing stairs.
I have this same issue. the only way i've found to get out is to get to the surface, dig onto land turn around and block the water behind me and then jump.
I encountered the same problem in Minecraft for Windows 10
In Old World, 2 connected edges have an area of 16 blocks width where my footsteps will be silent. In this "silent" area I cannot jump out of water. But when I change the world to infinite, those area became normal.
Can confirm, still bugged as of 5/04/2020 on PS4 Bedrock v2.05
Bug applies to both, slab and stair blocks. Considerably more frustrating regarding stairs, as one single stair block requires two jump presses to climb.
As of the 1.14.60 hotfix, this is still an issue.

Affects 1.16.0.59 and also affects certain mobs.
I also had this problem while playing. It seems that you can't get out of the water at some spots. Then you swim away and come back to a different spot and it works. This is happening in an old type world while playing multiplayer with my brother.

I found that I can't get out of the water around the chunks that bordered the edge of the world. if I am in the middle of the map I can get out of the water just fine, but the minute that I step into the chunks that border the edge of the world, I can no longer get out. Can confirm this is still an issue. 1.17.30 on Xbox and windows.
Can confirm that this is still a bug in Minecraft 1.17.40 (tested on xbox).
I'm assuming that with the advent of old-style worlds being depreciated in future updates (as seen in 1.18.0.22 beta released today) that this bug will likely never be fixed?
I'd agree that that seems likely, but we haven't been and probably won't have an official statement about it until the option is removed—if then. On the other hand, Mojang will continue supporting Old worlds officially, and the code that's causing the problem will therefore still be executing, so a fix will still be technically possible.

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.
Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.
