This is still happening in 1.20.1, I hope this get fixed soon.
Can confirm.
Confirmed. In the villages I'm monitoring, every door is being left open, and all the villagers are getting turned into zombies because of it. I found one house so full of zombie villagers that they couldn't exit.
Can also confirm (Bedrock 1.10). They're opening/closing like normal during the day but are not closing doors behind them at night.
Confirmed for 19w14b
They also constantly run in and out of houses
Took me forever to find this, but yes I've been seeing this so much, and I notice that the villagers most of the time are not shutting the doors because they jump into bed before triggering the door to close. I really hope this observation helps because i've been looking for the report that everyone is actually following. to resolve this i think that prioritizing door shutting maybe with a pre-check to getting in bed could be done then villagers would check for open doors before sleeping.
can reproduce in 1.14 pre-release 5
Yes. I noticed this happens a lot when they go into their homes after a bell rings.
I hope they fix this by the time 1.14 comes out.
Still an issue in 1.14.
Notice this wasn't updated yet; still indeed in 1.14
Confirmed for 1.14 on Win 10.
This doesn't only happen when villagers go to bed or work at their designated workstation before they can close the door afteŕ themselves, but also when they leave the house.
I've very often seen empty houses with open doors and no villager missing in several villages.
Still in 1.14.1 Pre-1
my villagers are closing the door in the new snapshot
Still in 1.14.1 (when villagers go to bed, use their workstation or talk to other villagers).
^ Yep, The whole village is exterminated after 2 nights.
Playing a new game 1.14.2 latest release. Began as a single player, no mods, opened to a LAN game. I have a naturally spawned village which I fenced off. The villagers find their beds and workstations without a problem. They will not close the door when they go to sleep at night. This happens with single and double doors. It doesn't happen with every house nor does it seem to happen with the same houses every night. Obviously there is little danger of them getting killed in their sleep due to lighting and fencing, but I worry about the other villages that I have not secured yet. As a side note, the villagers seem to be playing musical beds, leaving their previous bed unoccupied in favor of a different resting place.
I observed the following with my villagers. If the bed was next to the door, the door was left open. I waited until night time, blocked each door and broke the occupied beds one at a time, placing them back in each house but not next to the door. I then opened each house and waited for the night cycle. All prefab housing where I had made sure no bed was next to the door had the doors closed. I observed this for 3 nights and all the doors were closed when the villagers went to bed.
In the "long house" that I constructed, the villager left the door open on the one night he slept there. The beds are not arranged near the doors, but the bed he chose was not near the door he opened to enter the house. (is that clear as mud?) I can take a screen shot of the longhouse configuration, but I think it is only peripherally related. The long house is 16 doors long and just deep enough to have one space to walk between the wall and the foot of the beds. (14 beds)
I've been seeing them have a lot of trouble with double doors. Typically they'll open one side (perhaps open-and-shut repeatedly), but then they'll mill around on their side of the doors instead of going through – I mostly see them stuck outside, but sometimes inside. Me opening the shut side seems to unwedge their pointy little brains.
In related news, it would be nice if iron golems knew how to open and close double doors, especially when I left a gap above specifically so the golems can go through. Heck, they could even shut open doors when doing their rounds at night.
ETA: I'm on Java edition 1.14.3.pre4 .
Still in 1.14.3
Still happening in my village too.
Confirmed for 1.14.4 Pre-Release 2. When I was AFK for a second in a (naturally well lit) plains library building, the villagers let the creeper in and it blew me up along with the lecterns and the two villagers I worked so hard on to level up. If this problem was fixed, villagers will stop welcoming dangerous monsters into their homes.
The fix vesion was succesful and it doesn't happen since then.
This bug has returned as of 1.19.3
