Block breaking texture animation is too dark
The breaking animation when breaking blocks in Survival mode is too dark. In both Bedrock and Java editions, the destroy_stage texture files are identical, yet it still appears darker in the Bedrock Edition.
What I expected to happen was...:
The block breaking animation would appear lighter, like how it used it many years ago and how it does on the Java Edition.
What actually happened was...:
Instead, it appeared very dark.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Load a world
- Switch to Survival mode
- Begin breaking a block
- Notice how dark the breaking animation appears

The breaking animation that appears when breaking blocks is too dark and rough. In both Bedrock and Java editions, the destroy_stage texture files are identical, yet it still appears darker and rougher in Bedrock.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Start breaking any block and look at the breaking animation texture.
Observed results:
The texture is very dark and rough.
Expected results:
The texture is lighter and smoother, as it used to be and how it is on Java.
Screenshots/videos attached: Yes
Notes: Something to note is that this also affects resource packs, so this issue is not exclusive to the default textures of the game. It could be caused by the same thing that caused the seagrass to render itself very dark before the 1.12 update.

I can confirm this has been fixed in 1.21.60.23, as world now generates more grass, like Java does.
Thank you so much for fixing this! Now please fix MCPE-121708, MCPE-165424, MCPE-188463, MCPE-188479, MCPE-46176 and MCPE-7990 and I will play again daily ; )

Notice how you punch the birch tree on the Bedrock edition it shows the top/bottom breaking textures instead of the bark.
This is actually a quite an old bug, and the tree particles are incorrect.
Relates to
MCPE-34795.Also there's a bug with breaking slabs and stairs, where the "breaking" animation plays the bock animation and the parts where there isn't anything just becomes a non-physical grey wall
Seems like the blending mode used is wrong, or something similar, because the textures are identical
Why is this still not fixed. It bugs me so much
This bug also affects version 1.15.0.55 beta
Still affects 1.16.0.60 beta
affects 1.16.2 release
Will this get fixed, the current one really does look ugly
Affects 1.16.200.53
affects 1.17.10.23
Still affects 1.16.220 release. Mostly on mobile phones but can sometimes accrue win10 as well.
It's on all platforms running bedrock edition.
affects 1.17.10
Affects 1.17.30.25
Affects 1.17.40.20
Effects 1.18.027

Affects 1.18.10.20
Should also be present in 1.18.0 full release when that comes out.
Also affects 1.18.12
Affects 1.19.10
Sadly, still an issue.
Darker breaking overlay looks way better than Java Edition one even if it's unintended (which is likely not the case, because it's impossible to accidentally add it, and even if it is unintended it looks much better in that way anyway) I really hope they will keep it like this and maybe even add it to Java Edition, and Bedrock blending makes more sense, according to breaking overlay texture.
Affects 1.20.73
I just realized something, and I believe that Java's breaking overlay is the one that is broken, because on Java breaking overlay render extremely weirdly on translucent blocks such as ice for example, and doesn't render properly on grass block side, same happens on Legacy Console Edition, but doesn't happen on Bedrock, and also the way overlay looks in-game on Java doesn't make sense if you compare it to the texture of it, and Bedrock's one is completely fine and looks really nice, so Java's breaking overlay needs to be changed to match Bedrock instead of changing Bedrock's one, and this bug report should be marked as works as intended.
Can confirm 1.21.60.23.
Still an issue. The MC Bedrock block breaking animation feels so cheap
Still affects 1.21.60.25 preview
