Persistent/unchangeable sounds after (re-)opening a world
The bug
When a player leaves a world while a sound plays and then enters any world during the same game session (without closing the game), this sound plays again. But this is a glitched sound, and that's why:
- Its loudness is only affected by the Master Volume slider or the distance from the source of it
- It appears regardless of the world you entered, either at coordinates from the previous world, or "from nowhere", independent of your coordinates (e.g. background music, minecart riding sound)
- Some of the sounds play infinitely, even though the causes of them already disappeared (e.g. elytra or minecart sounds)
- This sound plays in the Pause menu
- This sound stays when you close the world, and plays in the menu. It also persists when you enter a world. This allows to "collect" many long or persistent sounds when entering worlds multiple times.
- It can cause overlapping background songs, where you have many glitched ones and (maybe) a normal one.
- If the sound was previously attached to coordinates, then upon exiting and entering other world it will again "move" to them.
All the glitched sounds can be removed by reloading the sound engine (F3+T)
Steps to reproduce:
- Play any sound or make something play it
- Pause while it is still playing
- Close the world and reopen it
- You'll hear this sound again

Created Issue:
Persistent sounds (flying, riding)
When a player leaves a world while gliding (using elytra) upon coming back the flying sound remains (detached from the player) and is located at the player's last position. The sound is louder nearer the position and fades with increasing distance. If the player leaves the world again (while the sound is audible) the sound persists even in the main menu.
Similarly to this the minecart riding sound persists if the player leaves and enters a world. This time the sound is not located anywhere (has a constant loudness) and is audible in all worlds. Can be recreated by leaving and re-entering a SP world while the riding/flying sound is playing.

For the issue that occurs after (re-)opening a world, see MC-102403
If this issue occurs, press F3+T ingame to reload all resources.
Music tracks will, either in the title screen or in-game, play overtop of eachother. This has been reported with:
- Ambient tracks
- Title-screen background music
For the issue that occurs after (re-)opening a world, see MC-102403
For example: If you turn the music slider to off music will still play.

Does MC-102403 describe your issue?
Likely duplicates MC-102403.
From MC-102403:
This sound stays when you close the world, and plays in the menu.
Mudkip909 Clorox Bleach, you're experiencing MC-102403 then probably.
Sounds like you fixed MC-102403 instead of this issue, so this ticket should be reopened.
Well, nevermind. Despite my best efforts to search for duplicates before submitting a report, this seems to be a duplicate of MC-102403 since that bug was fixed in 1.13-pre2 and this issue is no longer occuring.
Temporary solution?:
Try to switch your master volume in the game to 0 then set it back to normal.
This also happens with the guardian attack sound. Also, setting master volume to 0 then back again does not stop the bug. The only way to end the sound is to relog.
Can confirm, also happens in 1.10-pre1
Can confirm, is super annoying
Also happens to background music.
Please do not mark unreleased versions as affected.
You don't have access to them yet.
Also happens with custom sounds/music.
I hope this will be fixed soon..
Confirmed for 1.12-pre7
Confirmed for release 1.12.1
This also happened in release 1.12.2
confirmed latest 1.13 snapshot, 17w43b
Confirmed for 17w47a Debug file given.
