When you've not got any advacements, the advancements menu shows 'there's nothing here'.
The first or the first few advancements should be shown, similar to how the advancement tree shows a few advancements after those that are already completed in the advancement tree.

I don't think this should be the case as you should be able to see how to get your first advacement without having to google it.

This issue is still present for me on 17w14a, connected to my own personal dedicated server (running same snapshot version), with a world first generated in 17w06a that's been upgraded via 17w13a & 17w13b.
I don't understand the above comment relating to having a crafting table in the inventory, but having played around with that idea just now in 17w14a, it's not helped resolve the issue.
I can also confirm that this is not resolved in 17w14a. The advancements show up fine in single player, but when I upload the world to my server I get the "There doesn't seem to be anything here" error.

The advancements begin to show after crafting a crafting bench, I'm not sure if this is intended though. (Wow this image is huge.)
It's not a bug, actually, when the player hasn't completed any advancement it would say "There doesn't seem to be anything here...
" and then when you complete one advancement it will show.
The current text doesn't do a good job of making it clear that it's not a bug. If it's correct that this is by design, would it not be better to replace that text with something along the lines of "Advancements will appear here as you progress the game.". If nothing else, this minor change will stop people continuously creating bug reports for this, as it will then be clear that it is by design.
ya, Unless they got rid of the 'inventory achievement' or punching wood.. It's NOT there for for pre-release2 (1.16).
I'm Not a fan of hiding 'ALL' achievements.. There should be some hidden ones, but for pitty sake NOT ALL OF THEM.
This has to be a bugg.
This might cause problems for servers that don't want advancements to ever be shown. However, a "disable advancements" game rule or variable in the code would fix this objection in a clean and concise way.
Can confirm in 21w18a.
This is currently working as intended, but we might revisit this in the future.
