Relates to MC-163248
Closely relates to MC-163196, which concerns blocks which cannot be placed on the side of honey blocks. Also relates to MC-163077.
The bug
Slime blocks and honey blocks are both full 16x16 cubes. However, despite honey officially being said to be the "stickier" of the two, there are a large number of blocks which can be placed on top of slime blocks, but not on top of honey blocks:
- Glow Lichen
- Sculk Vein
- Torch, Redstone Torch, Soul Torch
- Buttons, all types
- Lever
- Bell
- Coral Fans, all types
- Twisting Vines
- Sea Pickle
- Scaffolding (MC-165404)
- Redstone Wire
- Redstone Repeater
- Redstone Comparator
- Pressure Plates, all types
- Doors, all types
- Rail, Powered Rail, Detector Rail, Activator Rail (MC-163248)
- Lantern, Soul Lantern
- Coral, all types
- Amethyst Cluster/Buds, all types
Expected results
Since all of these blocks can be placed on top of slime blocks, they would also be able to be placed on top of honey blocks.
Actual results
None of the above listed blocks can be placed on top of honey blocks. Only a small selection of support-needing blocks (i.e. all signs, all carpets, all banners, cake) can actually be placed atop honey blocks. This is, again, despite the fact that honey blocks have been officially stated to be the stickier of the two.
The Bug:
You can't place pressure plate on honey blocks.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Place the honey block.
- On top of the honey block, try to place a pressure plate.
→ 
You can't place the pressure plate on the honey block
Expected behavior:
The pressure plate should be placed on top of the honey block.
Observed behavior:
The pressure plate can't be placed on top of the honey block.
Note: this ticket relates to MC-163196, MC-165404, MC-163248 and MC-163077.
I also noted that flint and steal can not be used on top of a honey block, which is probably caused by the same issue.
Still affects 19w42a
Still in 20w15a. I understand that you can't because it's a side effect of not being a full block, but now that you can place rails on soul sand (which isn't a full block either) you should also be able to place them on honey blocks.
Rails can be placed on honey blocks in Bedrock Edition, so this is a parity issue as well.

Confirming in 21w16a (This thread was mentioned in a YT video earlier today).

Probably won't be resolved as a duplicate as both issues have a Mojang priority.
