Map progress lost when changing map scale
When you change the scale of a map and zoom out (with paper around the map item) all map progress is lost and you start with a new blank map. Is this working as intended or a bug? Would be nice if you could keep all explored areas. ![]()

Work as intended - please check MC-883.
EDIT - More details: After you expand a map, it's no longer a clone, but a new map.
The progress on the map is lost when changing scale MC-883 (Works as intended), but when copying ? Can you describe the procedure to recreate this issue ?
Whilst I agree that the "nice to have" comment does duplicate MC-883, the main point of this bug report is NOT the same as MC-1404.
I'm not complaining that the map is not precisely centred on the player. What I'm saying is that, if I craft a new map from scratch and right-click it whilst in one area, then go to another part of my world entirely and change the scale of the map, it should still be centred in the original area.
What actually happens is that the scaled version of the map is centred at approximately the position of the crafting bench used to do the scaling.
It would make sense to either have the scaled version centred at the same point as the original map or to allow empty maps to be scaled and then right-clicked.
Intended. See MC-883.

The same problem on Mac OS X 10.7.5. Java 1.6.0_37. Minecraft 1.4.2.
Description: if you have a map (with progress) and makes zoom out (put paper around the map), the map lost the progress.
Sorry for my english, I'm spanish.
Intended.
It doesn't make sense. If we map some area, we would be able to pass this information between our maps and other players maps by holding both maps on hands.
PS: Sorry poor english.
