Screen blanking when riding minecart around corner
When you ride around a corner and blocks are at eye level, the screen blacks out temporarily.
In older versions, you would take damage at the same time.
To replicate, recreate the design in the images. (The red wool can be replaced with any block.) I believe this issue may be related to MC-7464.

Personally I'm fairly certain that these are different bugs. In MC-12151, the player does not take damage, it just creates a visual glitch which causes the screen to blank regardless of how fast the player is moving. In this bug, the cave spiders actually take damage and potentially take a substantial amount if moving slow enough (though rare). They shouldn't have this issue being that they are so small. This is actually a reprise of MC-12974, which was closed due to it missing requested information. It was linked as being related to MC-12151.
It seems to me that if this is a duplicate, then MC-12151 should be considered a duplicate of MC-7464
The hitbox of all five minecart varients (minecart, hopper, chest, furnace, and TNT) do not behave as expected when changing direction, or traveling around corner rails, often times allowing their hitbox to be positioned inside or over blocks.
Steps to Reproduce:
(This is a very rudamentary display of this issue)
- Build:

(Regular command block is below the pressure plate) - Use this command in the Command Block:
/say minecart
Expected & Observed Results:
- The minecart will travel around the corner, and the /say command will be run.
- /say would not be run, as the minecart should travel around the corner rail, avoiding the pressure plate entirely.
Causes Behavior:
When traveling around corners, minecarts can; derail, stop, slow down, be redirected, explode prematurely (TNT), detach connected minecarts (Furnace), not pull connected minecarts (Furnace), deposit items into adjacent hoppers (Chest, Hopper), collide with nearby minecarts, clip passengers into blocks (Regular), and 'skip' over corner rails.
The aforementioned behavior is covered in these issues:
(If I have missed any, please let me know, and I will add them)

Meta / Notes:
This issue serves the purpose of encompassing many different open issues which all have different statuses (some issues are traiged, some have a higher priority than others), different quality of maintaining, and different quality of description (some are very bloated, while some hardly describe the issue). While all the reports described previously in the 'Causes Behavior' section showcase different gameplay impacts when viewed independantly, ultimately they are all the same core issue stemming from thje same source (that being, minecarts do not work as the player would expect them to when they travel around corners).
I suggest that the issues be forward resolved as duplicates of this issue, but if that is not helpful, I would then suggest that all the issues be marked as 'caused by' this lending most focus to this issue, instead of spreading it across many seperate ones.

The minecarts with player drives diagonally through the corner block, the player suffocates for a short time.
As of 1.5, it seems like the player doesn't take damage, but still loses vision.
Confirmed in 13w11a.
Removing the block on the inside of the corner seems to alleviate the issue in most cases.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Confirmed for 1.8.1 pre-3.
This happens because minecarts 'cut corners' and visually go through solid blocks. I attached a screenshot of a minecart 'cutting corners'. It affects 1.8.2-pre6.
This is the same issue as MC-7464. Not really duplicate, but they can be merged.
Confirmed for 1.13.1. Please, keep the ticket updated.
My issue regarding cave spiders suffocating was linked here as a duplicate. Since this issue mentions nothing about other entities than the player let alone them suffocating, I would appreciate if this information was added.
Further, because cave spiders are much smaller than the player, a very different setup may be used to produce such results.
MC-12974is about that and marked as related.MC-12974was resolved because it was not responded to in time. This is why I don't understand why my issue was resolved as a duplicate of this issue andMC-12974was just related.Confirmed to Vanilla 1.16.5.
I also performed some additional testing and attached my results in the screenshot.
Affects 1.20 Pre-Release 4.
Requesting ownership of this issue, as David B has not updated it since 2013.
