With the release of 1.11.0.3, you should no longer need to use the workaround described below. If you were already using it, I recommend re-disabling Developer Mode after updating to 1.11.0.3.
Some players have found that enabling Developer Mode on Windows 10 enables the game to load. Please be cautious before you decide to try this workaround. Developer Mode may reduce your protection from a malware attack, and will make other changes to how Windows behaves that you may not want. The crash definitely relates to Beta V1.11.0.1. I un-joined the Xbox Insider Hub for Minecraft Windows 10 Beta, and I uninstalled the crashing Beta version. I downloaded and installed Version 1.9. I launched the game successfully and created the Coastal Village World in Survival Mode / Normal / Infinite Size. It played normally.
I ran SFC /scannow on my system. The utility found no errors. I uninstalled V1.9. and I deleted all Registry entries for MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe. I rejoined the Xbox Insider Hub for Minecraft Beta. Ran the Minecraft Bedrock download; launched the App; and crashed on the splash screen. The crash is so fast, I can't screen shot the splash screen. I hope MOJANG fast tracks this and repairs sooner than later.
I just installed the Beta version on a Windows 10 Pro PC which has never seen Minecraft Windows 10 Edition. It crashed on the splash screen. I guess I have runout of ideas for this issue.

Has anyone discovered a workaround for the crash? At the present time, I have tried to load the previous version, 1.10.0.4, but I cannot figure out how to launch the game. It has been suggested we should contact the Community Management which is a great idea. How do you contact them?

Disconnecting from internet access does not work. Minecraft Windows 10 Beta crashes in offline mode.
Developer Mode works for me. Can Developer Mode be disabled after the Windows 10 Beta is working or wait tell it is officially fixed?

@Auldrick, Select Developer mode to enable Developer mode, or select Microsoft Store apps to disable it. Are you saying that if you disable the Microsoft Store Apps option the Beta will work, and you don't have to enable Developer Mode?
When I downloaded Minecraft Windows 10 Beta V.1.11.0.1 on February 21, 2019, it launched without a problem. I closed the newly downloaded Beta to do a complete backup of Windows 10 Pro. When I tried to launch Minecraft Beta after the backup, the Beta crashed. The fact it worked and then it didn't is very confusing to me. Presently, the Beta is working without a hitch in Developer Mode. Even the first Beta, after download and before crash, backup copy will load which contained my worlds when the Beta first downloaded. I just don't get it?
@James Booth, did you export your world(s) before downloading Windows 10 Beta v. 1.11.0.1? If you exported the world(s), launch Minecraft Windows 10 Beta; click on Play; click on arrow, right of Create New, browse to folder where you exported your world(s). Select a world; and Import it. If you did not export your world(s), you would have to restore Windows 10 prior to Beta v.1.11.0.1 download; launch Minecraft and export your world(s). There maybe other solutions which someone can suggest.
@James Booth, if you exported your world when you played Beta 1.10, then you only have to import it into Beta v1.11.0.1. If you have no exported worlds, then you will have to restore your Windows 10 to a time when Beta v1.10 was installed. Then you would export your world to back it up. Restore Windows 10 to present day, and import world. Unfortunately, I can't think of another way. I think what you need to do is outside the scope of this website. Do you leave the Windows 10 Developer Mode before downloading the Beta Update v1.11.0.3 update or download the Beta update and then leave Windows 10 Developer Mode?

No crash on launch of Windows 10 Beta V. 1.11.0.3 which is great!
There is a GPU-Usage-Spike while/shortly after the game crashes.

Clearly, this issue was confused with MCPE-42317 (I should try rewording the description next time to prevent further confusion).
While they both prevent the game from starting, they were two completely different causes and two different issues
MCPE-42317 is about the game crashing upon startup that was caused by a certificate error, that issue was fixed in 1.11.0.3.
This report is about an infinite loading screen on Windows 10 PCs running version 1809 (I mentioned that there is no crashing), this issue was fixed in 1.11.0.4. However, the cause of this issue is unknown (possibly a license issue)
They were both fixed, so I don't think it matters if the issue is closed.
The loading tick is at the same point as this earlier crash: MCPE-42317. (I see you've already tried the developer mode workaround.)
Are you able to check for any Windows Store updates, to make sure that there aren't any certificate issues? (You might like to run the windows store troubleshooter.)
Also, when reinstalling the game, are you making sure that you haven't left any folders with resource packs behind in the com.mojang folder?
I think we need a hotfix. Everybody cannot try the beta on win 10.

This also appears to be a windows 10 exclusive problem.
My Xbox One works fine with beta 1.11.0.1 but all my Windows 10 devices (Desktop & laptops) crash as described.
I have reverted to 1.9 successfully as well. On the machine that successfully reverted to 1.9 I joined the beta program again and downloaded the beta. It began to crash again. hope this helps.
I have also checked the windows event logs and found no trace of anything.

I have windows 10 pro on my computer and windows 10 home on a laptop, both are on version 1803, and my xbox insider account is enrolled in the minecraft beta insider program.
I have an existing install of minecraft on the laptop, and my computer doesn't have minecraft.
Updating the laptop copy of minecraft to v1.11.0.1 beta; it crashes on startup. A fresh install on the computer also produces the same result, a crash on startup
I stopped the app, i also left and rejoined microsoft hub, I uninstalled and re installed, just the beta, the regular version works and java works.
Windows event log shows absolute nothing........

I'm having the same problem - it crashes when there are 10 black bars to the right of the startup screen animation. I've uninstalled & reinstalled. When I opted out of the beta, it worked fine. I opted back in, and it crashed again and won't start.

I had this issue when I first updated, but then I joined a new world created by my son on his tablet, and after playing in that, I was able to launch my old world without problem. Not sure if this is helpful.
Matt Johnsen: It sounds like you may have found a workaround, but I don't understand what you did. The other reports are that the game crashes before getting to the main menu, so I don't understand how you were able to join your son's world. Could you give more details, please? Others might be able to do what you did.

Same problem here, on my phone I saw an update for the Minecraft beta 1.11.0.1. I updated it and it worked. But after when I updated it for the Windows 10 Version (PC), it crashed during the loading screen. I tried restarting the laptop, but still doesn't work.

I just updated to Bedrock Beta 1.11.0.1 Windows 10 and now the Minecraft app crashes immediately at launch. I appear to not be the only one.
Can confirm it's crashing. Loading bar at 3/4's of the way and just quits. Uninstall and reinstall does not work. No crash log either. Specs: Intel Core i5-8250U, nVidia GeForce MX130 2GB VRAM w/driver version 398.36, 20GB RAM, Windows 10 Home version 1803 build 17134.590.
I know it's frustrating and I'm sorry, but we're unable to provide updates on bug reports once they've been passed to the developers. We don't get progress reports on them and we're mostly just volunteers from the community with no access to the Mojang team. All I can tell you is that we passed this to the developers within an hour of the initial report. Questions about what's being done about it should be directed to Community Management, who can give you an official answer.
I'm reproducing this failure to launch on two machines: a Surface Book 2 with integrated graphics, and a tower with dedicated graphics. Both machines are running NVIDIA's latest drivers. Internet connection does not make a difference.
I looked up community manager on twitter, and tweeted them, however, Jay also knows and he works at minecraft, now it is just a matter of time
An earlier commenter said he had the problem initially but that it corrected itself after he joined a world on his son's tablet. Unfortunately, he hasn't responded yet to my question about how he joined. We've been speculating that he might have clicked Accept an Xbox invite. If somebody else is able to try that, it might reveal a workaround that would help others.
By the way, Allen Nelson, I'd be leery about trying to install 1.10.0.4 in an untested and unapproved way. You could potentially trigger anti-piracy logic that flags your account. I don't know that such logic exists in Bedrock, but Java has it.

@Auldrick tested crossplay accepting: the MC beta client tries to load the same amount before crashing (see the previously provided examples for an approximation); there doesn't seem to be a workaround. I tried both having the invite sent to me, as well as "forcibly" jumping into my friend's world via the join option.

Which brings me to this: I tagged Matt hoping he'd scroll back and see my question because there have been a lot of intervening comments and he's likely not to see it otherwise. (Our tags are meant to draw attention but they don't cause a notification to be sent.) So please try to confine comments to adding new information about the bug or a workaround. When there's too much other stuff, we sometimes have to hide some comments so the important bug information remains in focus. We don't like to do that because we know it often offends people, as it feels like we're dismissing their feelings. We're not, really! We're just trying to keep the bug tracker focused on collecting information about the bug, because that's its purpose and it's the best way to get it fixed as soon as possible, whereas there are other forums (e.g. the Minecraft Discord) where you can share other kinds of comments with Mojang and each other.

I just tried using the xbox app to join in on my friends game. That's the only way I could see that guy joining on his sons world. Still crashes at the same point in loading.

I noticed when i re download the game from game store, it shows its only 1.73mb, so its only downloading the minecraft load screen and nothing in the game files, hence the reason it crashes//.. pic is uploaded in atrtachments
@Addison- I looked to find my world in the files to no prevail. Otherwise I'd manually delete MC and do a fresh install. Are the worlds up in the clouds?
I tried all the suggested fixes for similar problems such as this from previous issues. Changing graphics, performance over quality, etc. Tried a couple different ways via xbox to comp. invite/join game. I feel the guy who connected with his kid was a flux. lol
Also this issue for me would not be such a nuisance if my windows 10 bedrock was connected to my xbox. As in all my texture packs are on pc. I don't want to have to buy them all again for the xbox bedrock edition. Though the trade off is not needing to spend a monthly fee to play with friends.
I tried deleting local files that are created on startup of the game, also didn't work.
Such an easier problem to fix if it wasn't so connected to the store. A lot of stuff is in the registry. Except the fullscreen issue people were having. I do not have that in my registry.
Also I noticed an increased load time and black screen when booting up bedrock edition on xbox., any correlation?

Could this issue have anything to do with the fact the version number on the store(1.11.1.0) is different than the actual version(1.11.0.1)?

Steven Zanoli: Good observation, and I'll see to it that it's passed on, but it's probably not a problem. The 4-part number is what the developers use internally when they build versions to test their changes every few days. That has to be shortened to a 3-part number on a release, because every platform needs the same version number (to avoid confusion) but some app stores only have 3-part numbers. So 1.11.0.1 (developers) became 1.11.1 (release). The Windows Store, however, does use 4-part numbers, so it adds the extra .0 to the end.
Vincent Thompson: Be careful! Trying to delete the game manually can cause more problems than it solves. If you're trying to uninstall so you can reinstall the released version, I recommend following the instructions on this page. Simply uninstalling and reinstalling the Beta version will not solve the problem until a fixed version is released.
Addison Dawn Perry-Franks: No, the problem isn't being caused by an incomplete or failing download. (Also, programs are not just a sequence of the screens you see, so the first thing in the downloaded file is not the load screen, or any screen at all.)
That may be the case, but the last beta in the store had the correct version number of 1.10.0.4
Gotcha, I didn't remember that. I've passed it on, but of course it's the weekend so they might not see it until Monday. The developers often do work a bit on weekends, but exactly when is up to them.
Again, please limit comments to information about the bug or how to work around the issue. I'm sure that if Cameron or anyone finds a legitimate way to work around it, they'll share the method here. Thanks for your cooperation!

I have the same problem. At first, I thought because my device had a problem. I tried to reinstall win 10 and reset the entire system but the problem was still not fixed. This took a lot of my time and I'm sure the error at version 1.11.0.1

However, be advised that turning on Developer Mode will have other effects on your system that you may not want, and there is a certain amount of risk in enabling it. Be sure to click the "Learn more" link on the settings page for more information.

cameron c: After I passed on your comment, I hid (not deleted) it because I was afraid it might encourage people with less technical ability than you apparently have to mess around with their certificate stores, which could be disastrous for them. I was waiting for you to find the "legit workaround" you said you were looking for and hoping it wouldn't require as much technical knowledge so that I could publish it at the top of the page. In fact, if you know a workaround that doesn't require enabling Developer Mode, that would be preferable and I'd be happy to publish it (with due credit).

You can hide comments? Neat. But no the only 2 things you can do is forged a CERT or enable developer mode. So use developer mode at own risk. If your not tech savvy wait for the hotfix.

Good questions, Allen! My instructions were ambiguous, weren't they? The Developer Mode setting is a 1-of-3 choice. You would need to select Developer Mode to enable it while playing Minecraft, but you could disable it again when you're done by choosing Microsoft Store apps, which is the default setting. That's a pretty good way to do it, actually, because it minimizes your vulnerability to malware.
I believe having developer mode on, or the cert are keeping my friends from connecting to our world via Xbox. I can join his game just fine, but he can't join mine. I'm not sure what the cause is, but it might be a byproduct of the situation.
You might be right. Something you might try is turning Developer Mode off after opening Minecraft but before your friends try to join. I didn't suggest doing that earlier because at the moment I'm unable to test whether it works. (Minecraft might do certificate checks in response to your actions in the game, so if you turn Developer Mode off after loading the app, it might work for a while but fail later. On the other hand, it might work fine.) If you try this and everything works, please let us know and I'll modify the instructions up in the description. Thanks!

No, you can only open this version of Minecraft in developer mode, and switch modes after opening the game, the game will crash immediately
allenn: The information you're reporting is unique and might provide an important clue for the developers. I don't know why your experience was different, but I don't doubt that there are many ways it could happen. I can even think of a couple hypothetical ways off the top of my head, though I don't think publicly speculating about them would be beneficial.
It does work when you open it in developer mode but as soon as you switch it back off it shuts itself down as before. Hope this gets fixed soon

Sorry, I'm afraid there isn't. The only other workaround available is to leave the Beta, which will return you to 1.9 but you won't be able to open your 1.10 worlds in it.

In case you want to go back to the non beta version (currently 1.9), you might find the following information useful.
Worlds opened in a higher version, can not be opened in a lower version. When uninstalling the game please make sure to backup your worlds.
The default storage location for Minecraft worlds on Windows 10 is: %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds. (you can paste this location in the adres bar of your file explorer)
Sidenote: In case of multiple windows users you need to backup the worlds for every user that uses the machine.

Because I forgot that this issue was only reported in the Beta release. (When an issue is reported in both the general release and a Beta release, we keep it open until the fix gets applied to the general release.) Thank you for pointing it out.
