Pierre Waldén: Attached the world (newly generated). Just now it happened on the 3rd try on 11 render distance (though last time it happened on 4). When the items disappear, type
/testfor @e[r=20]
and you will see that the item is within the radius, but invisible.
EDIT: It works also if you sleep in a bed elsewhere and /kill yourself 10 blocks away from the bed. There does not need to be a platform.
Also it seems that the world compressed into a RAR not a zip, I don't know if this will cause problems (but if it does you can also use the world in MC-68403).
[~ericz1]: Yes I can confirm the items disappearing now. That is not the same bug as this one. The bugs are reproduced in different ways, they are not affecting the same items, render distance does not seem to affect the bug you have discovered and there are a lot of other differences... So not the same bug. I think that MC-68403 is the one you are experiencing though, so that one being a duplicate of this one is wrong.
If some mod sees this, please remove MC-68403 duplicating this one. They may at best be related.

MC-67626d?
Tested on a Redstone Ready superflat world. Teleported to 524289 ~ 524289, walked about 10 blocks further on +X and +Z, and saw my items just fine after a /kill and looking at my death point.
Hey Ryan, I'm still getting this bug in 14w34d for some reason.
Here's a video demo of the bug.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xEmz0dFt4Y
Can you test on the world file I've posted? Same file from the video. I am not sure why this is an issue for me and not you.
Can someone please reopen this? I've added a world file and video demo to explain this bug.
Confirmed for 1.8-pre1
Please reopen and retest with world file.
Confirmed for 1.8.
After further testing on qmagnet's world it seems that this even happens on 0 x 0.
It's not just item entities. While playing the Arena branch of qmagnet's Diversity 2 in 1.8, I noticed that some of the mobs randomly turned invisible after a respawn. They would automatically reappear after a while, usually after already having attacked me.
Confirmed for pre3
In 1.8.1 Pre-4
Confirmed in 1.8.2 pre-3.
The problem also occurs, if you trigger a summon (item) command while dead. The items don't display visually but you can pick them up after respawn.
15w31C Unable to recreate.
Confirmed in 15w34d. Not on flatland though.
Should I rewrite the description for this bug? Originally it had to do with very specific coordinates. I tested my original world file, and the issue no longer exists (tested in 15w36d). But if people are having this bug at random locations, my description doesn't make sense.
If you can come up with a better/more general description and/or the current description is inaccurate, yes, please do!
Well, I haven't experience the bug since the previous fix. I am not sure how to reproduce it. I could just include the video.
It seems trivial for me to reproduce, I'll add in my way of reproducing and leave the link to your video at the end.
Perfect.
I can confirm this.
It happened to me when i loaded a fresh world, and died a few times (within 5 mins or so).
What happened was that I got killed by creepers and skeletons, without seeing them.
Edit: Entities became invisible after first death (following a new chunkrendering).
Note: Also, the game got extremely laggy after respawning.
EDIT: This time the game crashed after going to the main menu, and re entered the world. (only saw the background and then it froze, which never happened to me before).
Seems to have gotten worse in 1.9
As of somewhere in the 1.9 snapshots (week 35?) this happens to me 100% of the time for all entities within view radius. Thus I'm required to quit to main menu after EVERY death. I'm considering the snapshots completely unplayable until this is fixed.
Note: I'm using an Intel HD4000 video card. I hope it's not one of those intel-specific bugs.
EDIT: I can confim the other bug mentioned, that constantly having to quit to main menu and reload causes the world to fail to load every 3rd time or so. Specifically if a very short time elapses between reaching the main menu and reloading the world. Letting the game sit for an extra 10 seconds before hitting load seems to avoid the problem.
Confirmed for me, was creating a map, testing out mechanics I've re-made for skeletons, they vanished, etc
Confirmed in different test setup.
1) Create world (flat preset: void).
2) Spawn any mob (multiple mobs), and place any item(s).
3) Get killed (any kill).
4) (Click) respawn
All entities are invisible, incl. mobs.
confirmed in snapshot 15w38a.
confirmed in snapshot 15w38a
Can confirm. I've had to quit multiple times after death as well.
Confirmed for me...my creepers disappeared ;-;
I tested on server with my friend, when he died, only he could not see entities He could not kill them but me i could.
Still happening in 15w38b..
Confirmed yet again for 15w38B
darn... the bug is still in 15w38b.
If you are a mod please tell mojang
to run a bunch of tests before actually
release a "official bug fix" as they failed
to actually fix the bug. They can't just make
assumptions that the bug is fixed when it
works the first time or even correcting the
error but NOT TESTING IT. They should
do lots of testing before releasing bug
fixes, as it's annoying for them not to test
it well, before releasing and what happens?
it's still in the game. I'm not trying to be a hater
or anything as I know that fixing bugs isn't easy
but that doesn't give them a excuse to assume it works
when testing it the first time. or not testing it at all by
doing a possible fix.
Mojang if you are reading this, I apologize in advance if this
was offensive, just that at least make sure the bug is fully fixed,
and tested properly before you do a release.
Brian,
These are snapshots. They aren't to be stable. I know it can be frustrating but you should not expect fixes until releases.
Demanding the devs in full caps to TEST the game, isn't really positive.
Second, this bug wasn't ever marked as fixed. So I'm not sure where your angst is coming from.
All you need to write here whether or not the bug exists in the version you are playing. Or provide some detail on causes.
This isn't limited to Superflat, in case that matters. Hard to believe that a bug like this appeared more than a year ago in snapshots and has either returned or still not been fixed...
It has been FIIIIIXXEEEDDD
Something is wrong in this issue:
1) Status "fixed" is untrue, for the issue still exists in 15w38b.
2) "Future Version - 1.9+ ", don't make sense, for it's NOT fixed.
Situation:
Load new world > get killed > respawn.
Resulting in invisible mobs.
@Robin Hood, future version fix means that the issue has been addressed, but has not been pushed out yet. A future snapshot should have the fix included.
@Robin Hood it usually means it's fixed in the next snapshot
@qmagnet, currently I'm working on a
a vanilla mini games server in the 1.9 snapshot. and certain
bugs can make testing my mini games difficult, which is where
my anger came from. But I admit, my comment was a bit harsh.
I have faith in the bug being fixed, and hope everyone's project
development can succeed further. Have a good day everyone!
This is a bugtracker and not a discussion board. Please do not discuss topics here that won't help us to find and fix bugs. Also, snapshots are not stable and reliable, they are incomplete, untested, in development, unstable and not optimized. Using them for anything you care about is a bad idea.
I'm still experiencing this in 39b...
@Ender Dragon, are you using the same steps as above, or something else to reproduce this?
Above.
Me too, still in 15w39b
Happening for me too using these steps:
1. Create superflat world
2. Pick block on grass
3. Dig a 2 blocks deep 1x1 hole
3. Jump inside the hole
4. /kill
5. Walk back to the hole, look inside it: No item.
6. Jump in the hole, you will pick up the item.
Confirmed (normal generated world).
Note: It appears items however seem to be visible (yet havnt tested all), but mobs are not.
Confirmed, bug still present in 15w39b. Items seem to remain visible.
Tested Painting, ItemFrame, EnderCrystal, Mob, Minecart all go invisible.
confirmed in 15w39b survival single player, new world, Windows 7 64 bit w/ 64 bit java, intel 2600k cpu, nvidia gtx 970 gpu.
the error from
MC-65040"Tried to add entity X with pending removal and duplicate UUID xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx" DID occur in the log, but not with regard to said invisible skeletons (it was about some villagers that were likely at the edge of loaded chunks I'd flown in render-range of)... and the above error was 6 minutes before the "was shot by a skeleton" death message that preceded my respawn and subsequent invisible skelliesI also noticed and tested, if you lure the invisible mob out of the chunk they went invisible in, they become visible again. I hope this is relevant and helps solve the issue.
Confirmed: 15w39c
Items and mobs dissapear.
OK I'm mucking about in the latest update. 15w39c still getting it. Died came back, this time it was cows and rabbits invisible in a pen but the chickens in the next pen were visible?????? Yep it's definitely more dangerous never even saw what killed me that time. Note the bunny dirt disturbance sprites look scary cool without a bunny.
probobly fixed for next snapshot as [Mojang] Searge (Michael Stoyke) said on
MC-65040i've seen this now a few times since using 15w50a
im noticing player entities becoming invisible, an having to use /kill in order to be able to see them in 15w50a
See
MC-65040.Confirmed for 18w48b.
OnePointZero, wrong ticket see
MC-139122.Confirmed for 18w50a and 19w02a. If I die all mobs (including my cats) turn invisible until I relog. Please reopen this issue.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Generate a superflat world.
2. Spawn a bunch of mobs (or set the time to night so they spawn naturally)
3. Use /kill @s or let the mobs kill you.
4. All mobs should disappear. If you respawn in survival, you will likely be killed by an invisible mob.
Perhaps look at the comment right above yours...
MC-139122.
