Duplicate of MC-77787
The bug
If you create a new world with the option Generate Structures set to OFF and you try to use the command /locate , it will give you the coordinates of a non-generated structure (it gives you the coordinates of where the structure should be located).
How to reproduce
- Create New World.
- More World Options...
- Generate structures: OFF.
- Join the world.
- Type the command /locate and select a structure.
- Click the coordinates the command gives to you.
->
It teleports you to a place with no structure. The game should say, Could not find any structure nearby.
Probably this Works as Intended. Discovered while testing MC-77787.
The bug
The world creation screen lists "dungeons" as a possible structure which can be toggled on or off (despite it not actually affecting anything; see MC-77787). However, since 1.16 or so, the structure referenced here has not been called a "dungeon"; the game instead refers to these as "monster_room" in ID.
How to reproduce
- Enter the world creation menu --> More World Options
- Read the description under Generate Structures
- Be in a world with the ability to execute commands
- Use the /placefeature command, and type "dungeon", noting there are no results
- Now type "monster_room" and execute it (underground next to a cave but inside a block should work, it's a tad tricky to get to work though)
- Note that the structure placed by this is what is likely referred to as a dungeon instead
Expected results
Since the structure referred to in the option's description and given that specific namespaced ID are the same thing, their names would also match.
Actual results
One place refers to it as a "dungeon", whereas the other refers to it as a "monster room".
How to fix
Names should be changed; either the structure has its ID changed to "minecraft:dungeon", or the Generate Structures button refers to them as "monster rooms".
This duplicates MC-77787. Monster spawners are not structures, they're features just like geodes, fossils, or desert wells.

Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (currently that is 1.10.2, or 16w42a) of Minecraft? If so, please update the affected versions and help us keeping this ticket updated from time to time.
Yes, I just checked and this is still an issue in the latest versions.
Can confirm for MC 1.12.1. It is a Zombie Dungeon for me though. Also, this command should be added to the description to make reproducing easier.

Couldn'tconfirm for 1.13.1.I can now, sorry.
Still an issue in 1.13.1 2018-08-26_13.22.54.png
Can confirm for 19w05b
Can confirm in release 1.15.1 (the seed above doesn't work anymore but the same outcome still occurs with any seed).
Can confirm in 1.16 snapshots.
I suspect this is intentional because dungeons are not considered "proper" structures: they do not have a /locate command so the game does not use structure code but just natural/world terrain generation. In other words, they're part of the natural world.
Confirmed in 1.16.1 and 20w27a.
Confirmed in 1.16.2 Pre 1
The provided seed and coordinates no longer demonstrate the issue.
I think this may finally be fixed in 1.16.4! I updated the provided seed and coordinates. Generating the world with Generate Structures set to off did not generate the dungeon at the provided location, as (finally) expected.

My theory is, because Dungeons are such an old structure (first added in June 2010) the game may not recognize it as an actual structure, and just sees it as a world generation feature, like the ground itself. Also the fact the /locate command can't find Dungeons makes me think this might be the case.
I could be entirely wrong, so feel free to correct me about this.
Affects 1.17
Confirmed for 1.18.2
Can confirm in 1.19. MC-77787.png
This is likely because dungeons are technically recognized as "features" in the game, like trees, instead of a structure. Same applies to desert wells, and I think fossils to an extent, but I think they're almost like a hybrid of some sort if I'm remembering correctly.
Can confirm in 23w03a.
Dungeons are not currently considered structures
