Item loss when in creative mode with full inventory
When my inventory is full and there are item drops laying around it acts like everything is being picked up but items don't show up in inventory since it is full. Not sure if this was the way it was intended to work or not.
Before the Survival Inventory was accessible in creative items would lye on the floor if the inventory was full. That was changed in Beta 1.9pre5, so that the player would pick up items no matter how full the inventory is. Now that the inventory is accessible this behaviour should be reconsidered, since the inventory can be easily cleared.

@[Mod] Avoma, this report is about /loot give, not the /give command. /give deleting items for Creative mode is likely MC-8409 or closely related and probably intended.

This seems similar to MC-8409 but I'm not sure as to whether or not it's the same. WIth that being said, please could you provide some screenshots or videos demonstrating this behavior whilst the F3 debug screen is enabled? Thanks ![]()

I tried to pick up a dead player's items while I was in creative mode and apparently if you have a full hotbar, the items just get deleted.
Seems to be the same as this issue I found by web searching: MC-8409
"Resolution: Works As Intended"
This has got to be a joke right? How is this the intended behavior?
I'll resolve this as a duplicate of MC-8409.
The reason for why this is happening is not documented. I believe the reason could be that it's possible to spawn an infinite amount of items in Creative mode, and cleaning these items up should be straightforward. And since you're in Creative mode, losing items is not a big deal since you can spawn in any item you want very easily.
However I'll ask Mojang again whether this is behaviour they want to keep or not, as it indeed is kind of counterintuitive. If they decide they want to revert their decision, MC-8409 will be reopened.

This is convenient for cleaning things up. I don't know if it's intended.
There was a time where it was impossible to pick items up with full inventory, but that was changed, so intended.
I really think this behavior needs to be changed, intended or not.
A player just lost two chests of items after they broke one open while I was stood next to them with creative mode creative mode active.
While I can see that it is convenient for cleaning up, it's a 'feature' that would work just as well implemented as a console command that clears the inventory.
For feature suggestions/changes please use the MineCraft Forums: Suggestions.
Would it not be more appropriate to re-open the ticket, and let one of the developers confirm if it's intended or not?
Black holing items without confirmation seems like it has a significant chance of being a regression, especially as:
From the Fixed Beta 1.9pre5 list: "[F] In creative mode, the player often encounters items on the ground. The current behavior of the game is to add these items to the player's inventory, which eventually results in a full inventory that the player cannot empty."
Thank you for the link - it confirms that it is almost certainly unintended behavior.
In Beta 1.9pre6 when the behavior was changed it was not possible to switch between survival and creative modes, the survival inventory was not accessible, and was not clearable via the console.
Those three things have since changed, but the game still acts as if the survival inventory is immutable in creative mode.
Alright let's let Mojang decide on this one.
@Tails
Strongly disagree.Creative inventory actually has a 'Delete item' recycle bin quite long since 12w22a, and any item stored in inventory (except quickslots) can also be blackholed in creative just by dumping it off dialogue bounds. Since a decent way of cleaning the inventory is implemented, there is no real intent to use such a kludgeous item pickup rule anymore. This is not a feature suggestion either because it is a request to make an earlier fix more consistent with the current UI, and a feature request for this exact case should sound more like "We need a rule/option/whatever to let player decide if a he should pick up dropped loot in creative".
Please, this should be reopened until we see a word from Mojang employees on this.Thanks.Would be great if this would be fixed along with
MC-149andMC-4681.Happens in 13w19a
Its unfortunate that it removes the items, but can't you just clear up inventory space? I do not want to see this change as it makes it easy to clear up a large amount of item drops without having to clear your inventory. I support kbk's suggestion for an option to turn that on/off. Currently, I would not like to have to store all of my custom command blocks in a chest so I can insta clear the inventory just to pick up item drops that I don't need.
