I've done some thorough and further investigating regarding this issue and wish to shed some light on a couple of things. ![]()
This issue can be reproduced using both the "/summon" command and with spawn eggs, but where this begins to become a problem, however, is with spawn eggs. If you were to spawn an elder guardian close to some blocks (using spawn eggs), you'd notice that they are sometimes able to pass through them due to their hitboxes intersecting blocks upon being summoned, therefore leading me to believe that this ticket duplicates MC-103934.
This core issue as a whole doesn't only affect elder guardians. It affects any entity with wide hitboxes.

The bug
It is possible to use a spawn egg in such a position that the spawned mob will immediately begin suffocating, or in similar invalid states such as intersecting a block. This is inconsistent with other items which create entities, such as armor stands and boats, which refuse to be placed unless their usage results in a valid state.
How to reproduce
- Create or encounter a one-block-high setup similar to that shown in the screenshots attached
- Attempt to place an armor stand in this one block high region
- Attempt to use a creeper spawn egg in this one block high region
Expected results
As armor stands and creepers are both greater than a block high, neither would be able to be placed inside of this one-block high region as it does not have sufficient space to accommodate them.
Actual results
The armor stand is correctly blocked from placement. However, the creeper is allowed to spawn in this invalid configuration and immediately suffocates as a result.
Further notes
This is not a duplicate of MC-103934; that ticket concerns the fact that mobs can suffocate in otherwise valid positions (or positions that can be easily be made valid) when a spawn egg is used, whereas this ticket concerns blatantly incorrect positions.

Duplicate of MC-103934.
This issue is similar to MC-103934 but applies to salmon released from buckets rather than spawn eggs. Sometimes, a big salmon placed from a bucket suffocates.
How to reproduce
- Spawn multiple salmon until you get a big one
- Use a bucket to pick up a big salmon
- Stand directly next to a block
- Release the salmon inside yourself.
Expected result
The salmon would spawn without intersecting a block and would not suffocate.
Observed result
The salmon suffocates.

This behaviour does not occur with normal Guardians.

Hello; please could I request ownership of this ticket? There are some amendments I'd like to add to state the overall problem here as I feel it's not concisely clear. The current reporter has been inactive for over five years as well and I'm willing to refine this ticket and keep it up-to-date. Thanks in advance.
Done.

This issue also affects large salmon when removed from a bucket. Sometimes, they suffocate if placed directly next to a block.
Should I create a new ticket for this?I’ve decided to create a separate ticket (MC-279909) since the behavior of where mobs spawned from buckets spawn differs significantly from spawn eggs.
