Game doesn't run under user account with exclamation marks / special characters
You cannot have '!'s in your user name / profile name, this breaks java horribly.
This is something we cannot control or fix
You can fix it by not having '!'s in your user name / profile name name.

Downloaded the 1.6 launcher last night, and after the files were downloaded, I attempted to start the game. Basically, it threw a bunch of code(and since I'm not particularly learned in Java coding), I have no idea what it means, save that there was an error of some sort.
After looking around for a while the only other players having this error are apparently on macs, which I am not; I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. I've updated Java to the latest version in both 64 and 32 bit.
Also, if it means anything, prior to the new launcher I was having the "can't connect to Minecraft.net" error, which has apparently been resolved in this launcher.

Wow. It's unfortunate that nobody's been able to help you fix this until now. As you may have noticed, this issue has been marked as a duplicate of MCL-774, and if you follow that link, it explains your problem, and how to fix it. In short, Java chokes on certain special characters in file paths. In this case, it's the exclamation mark in your Windows user account. You can either create a new user account, or fix the current one – but keep in mind that just renaming the user account isn't enough: you have to follow a few steps to make it work.
Dupe of MCL-774
As was said previously, your issue is the same as MCL-774, as you have an exclamation mark in your Windows username.
Please see that issue for instructions on resolving the issue.
Also, here's proof that your profile name has special characters:

The path to your server jar has an !. And no, it's not minecraft usernames, it's user names in general (account user names, or profile user names, both of which go into the pasths). That's what MCL-774 is about. Try renaming New Server!! to New Server. And yes, we know that the path to your server is New Server!!, because that's in the FileNotFoundException.
It's not a Minecraft bug, it's a Java bug - see http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=4523159.

You have special characters in your user account, which prevents the game from running due to a Java bug. See MCL-774 for more information.
Ah, I know that one. It's caused by the ! in your username, which breaks java (and isn't something that Mojang can easily fix, although it has been suggested that the launcher check for this before launching - see MCL-774).
There's some workarounds listed here: either create a user without ! in the name, or change the work directory of the game so that it's located in a folder without any !.

Hey there!
This is a problem with Java – you cannot have exclamation marks in your Windows user name, it breaks Java horribly. See MCL-774.
In order to fix this, use a user name which does not contain an exclamation mark.
See MCL-774.
This seems to be a duplicate of MCL-774
Your user account on your computer contains exclamation marks. For more information and how to fix your issue, please view the ticket linked above.
C:\Users\!\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
Is "!" your system's username? If so, this will cause the game to crash (see MCL-774).
See MCL-774.
See MCL-774.
See MCL-774.
C:/Users\THIS IS PC!\ ...
This is definitely one issue. You cannot have special characters like '!' in your Windows user name, as it will cause your game to crash. See MCL-774.
Could not reserve enough space for 2097152KB object heap
The log also outputs this error, which might be caused by not having enough memory allocated. Though I would start by fixing the first issue and seeing if this also is causing your game to not launch.
See MCL-774.
Caused by "!" in computer username. See MCL-774.
Your windows user name contains an exclamation mark, which makes it impossible to run Minecraft. See MCL-774

This is a known issue with user names that contain exclamation marks. Unfortunately, it cannot be fixed from Mojang's side.

This is likely due to the exlamation mark in the file path.

Similar to recent issue MC-252753 , I receive this error in the launcher logs:
[Info: 2022-06-24 01:26:34.6541462: GameCallbacks.cpp(177)] Launcher/launcher (main) Info Exception in thread "main" java.util.ServiceConfigurationError: org.slf4j.spi.SLF4JServiceProvider: Error accessing configuration file
A few lines later, it shows that the path attempting to be accessed cuts off before an exclamation point "!" special character which exists in the %USERPROFILE% path.
I very much understand that this is related to MCL-774 however that issue is from 2013, and the new launcher has been written since then.
There is also a work around for the Windows 7/8 version of the launcher. Namely, the older launcher can use the "--workDir" option to change where user files are stored. However in the Windows Store version of the app, there is no "real" exe file, and hence there is no way to launch with the workDir option.
So at this point there are a few options for people who have ! characters in their user dir and want to play Java:
- Use the Windows 7/8 launcher with the workDir option when playing java, and the Win 10 version when playing Bedrock (annoying but doable)
- Throw out their existing user directory and make a new one without a ! character (very annoying)
- Don't play the game (not exactly ideal)
Alternatively you could add another option: you can add a feature somewhere (in the launcher app's settings?) that does the same thing as the workDir option. Or maybe go the extra mile and actually detect the potential problem immediately and let the user know about it. You could even offer the user the option to change the folder location at that time.
I understand that this might be extra work for you, but come on! You have made a whole new launcher, NOW is the opportunity to make it a better experience!
Thank you for your time and consideration!

It is possible that the username is preventing Minecraft from launching properly, especially if it contains an exclamation point or other special/non-English characters, see e.g. MCL-774 and MCL-9929. In that case the only solution is changing your username and/or Minecraft game directory.
It might be something different entirely though, especially if you say it worked before with the same username. However to find out what causes the issue instead, we're not well equipped here on the bug tracker, so as Tail suggested, you might get better help by contacting Community Support.
Tail please be respectful here on the bug tracker.

This was reported a while ago as MCL-774, which is now resolved as Invalid. In the report, [Mojang] Grum (Erik Broes) mentioned that this is unfortunately not something that Mojang can fix, as it is an issue with Java itself. ![]()

Please attach the complete output of the "Development console" of the launcher. CTRL-A, CTRL-C there, CTRL-V in the ticket.
Use a username without exclamation marks. This is a serious problem with pathnames and Java.
Thank you so much! you have the best thanks and reguards my good friend and also, happy new years!
Hello,
I tried creating a new account on my computer with no special characters in the name, just letters. I ran minecraft.exe and it gives me the same error as I talked about earlier.
Same thing happens when I try to change the directory that minecraft works in.
How do I fix this without having to create a secondary profile on my PC. The fact that I'm having this error because my main profile for the computer has an ! on the end of it is absolutely ridiculous.
Once I created the secondary profile it was fine and loaded like any normal program. But once I switched back after successfully having it load on the second computer profile, the main one still won't function correctly because of the "!" on the end.
Looking at the other people suffering from the same thing, they've also said removing any special characters from the names after the fact does not fix it.
(Edit) 1/25/2021
Going into my control panel to edit the user profile to something without the ! point on the end of it has not fixed the issue. My ticket was closed because it is saying it's a duplicate of this one.
Changing the account name does not fix the issue; the problem is the ! in the path which isn't changed when renaming your account. As the linked post says, you need to either change the game's work directory (so that Minecraft jars are not in a folder that has an ! in it), or create a new user account whose name does not have an !. The page seems to no longer have a link, but here are instructions on how to change the work directory.
The Minecraft launcher is not a .exe file

What should I do if its not a .exe file
