Snow covered grass/podzol/mycelium block side texture does not match original block
The bug
Snow covered grass, podzol and mycelium blocks use a different dirt texture on the side than the "normal" variants of those blocks.
How to reproduce
- Place a grass, podzol, or mycelium block
- Put a snow layer on the grass/podzol/mycelium and look for the incorrect change of texture
→
In all cases, a few pixels of the dirt block also changed, and for mycelium, the grass part did as well

To reproduce, place a snow layer on top of a grass block and pay close attention to the dirt texture.

This causes their bottom faces to appear unnaturally orderly, as well as cause them to rotate by themselves when snow is added or removed from them.
A resource pack that fixes this as well as MC-1483 can be found attached to this ticket. Mojang have my full consent in directly implementing these assets into the game with or without making any further changes.
The Bug
Mycelium blocks use a different dirt texture on the side than all other dirt based blocks.
MC-1483 was said to be fixed in this snapshot, but mycelium is still subject to it.
How To Reproduce:
- Prepare a block of mycelium such that its side faces are clearly visible
- Place a snow layer block on the top of this block, keeping a close eye on the general bottom right region of its side face
- Note the texture changes which should not be
- Remove the snow layer
- Equip a shovel, paying attention to that same region of pixels
- Transform the mycelium into a grass path by the defined key
- Note that this also causes the pixels in question to change when they shouldn't
- Repeat these tests, substituting the mycelium for either grass paths or podzol
- Note the complete lack of randomly rearranging pixels in all cases
Can confirm for 1.17.2
It seems nobody can add affected versions
- Snow grass dirt texture - has miscolored texture (Fixed for Java)
MC-1483
Closely relates to other minor pixel difference bugs, such as MC-1483, MC-130015 and MC-219843.
The bug
The left side texture of normal single chests have a few pixels that don't match the other sides (front, right and back), the most notable being near the top-left and bottom-left, which are much darker on the back side than on the front and sides, which have these pixels a lighter color.
How to reproduce
These mismatching pixels can be made very obvious in Creative mode via use of a debug stick and spinning a single chest around, but a keen eye works as well:
- Observe the front of a chest, paying attention to the top-left and bottom-left
- Observe the right of a chest, paying attention to the top-left and bottom-left
- Observe the back of a chest, paying attention to the top-left and bottom-left
- Observe the left of a chest, paying attention to the top-left and bottom-left
- Note that the left side of the chest has some pixels that are darker than those on the left side of the other three textures
Expected results
Either the four sides would generally match each other and this minor discrepancy wouldn't exist, or the different sides (left, back, right in particular) of a chest would be much more significantly different from each other such that differences like these wouldn't matter.
Actual results
We have this incredibly minor difference on a few of the sides.

Confirmed, as OP suggests, it is easier to see in-game.
Ignoring the pink up the top which is indicating the difference between the snow and the grass part, the rest of the graphic should ideally be black, but the brown parts are the differences.
It uses a different texture in terrain.png. Not sure if it is a bug.
Well, it's a slightly changed texture and I think, it should be fixed. It's actually more an annoyance... but also annoyances are bugs.
And thanks for uploading an additional screenshot which exactly shows the different pixels
Annoyances aren't bugs. Has this always been like this?
I'd call it more of a mistake than an annoyance. Its a small mistake, but I can't imagine anyone intended for those differences to exist. If a bats squeek being too high pitch is a "bug" I think this is just as valid.
I seems like a bug to me. If you put snow, the dirt reorganizes, and if you remove the snow the dirt come back to the original position? Nonsense.
Just because it's different doesn't qualify this as a bug.

Confirmed 17w06a.
I believe this bug report should be reconsidered and reopened. Texture errors have been resolved before, such as
MC-107844This also occurs with Mycelium and Podzol, most noticeably with Podzol as the entire grass side overlay is not the same.
Onnowhere: reopened and gave the ticket to you. Please update everything and provide proper screenshots and all that.
We have had other tickets that covered texture errors that even got fixed. So I think that's okay.

@[~Awesoman3000], you are now the reporter.
As of 19w08a, this bug is still in place despite the new snow texture. See attached image.

Consider this a warning.
The old dirt texture (pre - 1.0) is incorrectly used for these.
Can confirm in 20w48a.
Can confirm in 20w49a.
Can confirm in 21w05b.
(Disregarding the shaping of the snow-section and only looking at the dirt-texture,) still not fixed for Mycelium in 21w11a –
I'd add two additional notes:
Can confirm in 21w11a.
This fix also wasn't what the title says that was wrong. It explicitly said that the snow sides didn't match the normal versions. It wasn't just about the dirt texture, it covers the grass and grass-like texture too.
It seems this was not fixed for the Mycelium block, however that is now tracked in
MC-219843
