Summarily, an entity will cast a second shadow one block under its own if over at least two blocks of non-opaque blocks. It must be at least two blocks of glass, stained glass, or regular ice but Not glass panes, tinted glass, honey, or slime blocks (blocks whose transparent insides / tops are not culled away in an internal view such like glass does). The two blocks can be mixed and matched from the list (though some combinations, such as glass on ice, look normal for there to be a shadow on). More layers do not seem to produce more shadows. This is not a duplicate of MC-21024 as those shadows are merely misplaced, but still properly numbered (though the edge cases between the two produce interesting results, such as the contiguous shadow in attached photo 18w46a.png). This behavior does not appear before 18w46a; I suspect it's been present ever since then. The set of photos with the cow and the dropped glass item are taken in a glass cage through spectator mode.
Might be covered by MC-21024, but interesting to know the shadow appears twice in this case

The distance to which an entity's shadow begins to fade out is not affected by an entity's scale, leading to shadows appearing to fade out quicker than they should, due to how the player appears to (and technically is based off hitboxes) be closer to the entity.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Summon a pig with no ai
/summon pig ~ ~ ~ {NoAI:1b} - Walk away from it, until you notice the shadow disappear
(Denote your position, with a marker block beneath you, or any other way) - Scale the pig's size
/attribute @e[type=pig,limit=1,sort=nearest] minecraft:generic.scale base set 15 - Repeat step 2
Observed & Expected Results:
- The shadow will fade out at the same rate, despite visually being 'closer' to the entity.
- The entity shadow should fade away at a slower rate, since the entity is easily more visible at a larger scale, and would be expected to still render it's shadow until further away.

- This issue is at least partially blocked (or at least related) by the decision of
MC-163468, since it's unclear currently if entity shadows should stop rendering in the first place. - Relates to MC-21024 MC-223687
- This is likely due to the fact that shadows and when they should render is dependant on the distance from the player's position, to the entity's position, rather than the distance to the entity's hitbox.
- Primary reason to consider this an issue, is that the current behavior makes it near impossible for larger entities shadows to render past a scale of ~15 to 20. Generally, when the entity is bigger you can not get close enough to it's position because the entity's hitbox slowly pushes you away.

Also in snapshot 13w38c drops don't have shadow at all not on top of slabs, not on top of full blocks. Is this reported already?
