Same as MC-8684.
@Elayne Terry, could you please create a new report for that and refer to this one?
It looks like what you are describing might be related to MC-8684, but that is not about chunks missing, but only about some blocks not being rendered.
Not a duplicate of MC-8684. In MC-8684 it doesn't show that you get inside of a block.
In the description and the attachments of MC-8684, it shows that you are outside of blocks and you can look through solid walls with wide window size, and NO SUFFOCATION OVERLAY IS SHOWN in ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM.
In my bug report it shows that you are inside a block and the suffocation OVERLAY that COVERS the screen (AKA A 2D TEXTURE OF THE BLOCK IS SHOWN WHILE INSIDE A BLOCK) when you are inside a block DOESN'T COVER the INTIRE screen.
So in theory my bug works ONLY WHEN YOU ARE INSIDE BLOCKS and MC-8684 bug works ONLY WHEN YOU ARE OUTSIDE BLOCKS.
So this is where MC-8684 differs from my bug report. AND IT IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ISSUE.
Conclusion: only relates to MC-8684.
This issue is not the same. My issue affects another part of the game than in that issue.
My issue affects the suffocation overlay, and MC-8684 affects the FOV.
This is actually caused by generic.movement_speed being over a certain value, and is not specific to potion effects nor enchantments (MC-197091); they just modify said attribute.
Using /attribute, you can cause this too.
This can be fixed by clamping the FOV within a certain range, while not clamping the movement speed; Or by modifying how the world gets rendered on a wide screen to fix this (also fixing MC-8684).
I think limiting FOV is a good idea regardless, but asymptotically, not with a hard cutoff point. And MC-8684 shows that also properly fixing the actual rendering issue would be good anyway.
Thank you for your report!

SomeonePLaysMC please don't trash your reports. Comparing your report to MC-8685 and the sceenshots provided the it appears core of the issue steams from MC-8684 which is why it's a duplicate
After discussing this internally, we've decided to leave this open since the suffocation texture is a GUI element that can be easily expanded (as user-f2760 said) whereas MC-8684 has a very similar effect but can't be fixed as easily.
For future reference, removing all the attachments from this bug report did not exactly help coming to that conclusion.
Must be related to MC-8684 as well
This duplicates MC-8684 based off of your resolution shown in the attached images (2048x1056) which is widescreen.

Confirmed, see screenshot.
Almost forgot that. FOV can change a lot too.
Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w08a? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
