[Mojang] Brandon Pearce you're wrong. As they don't detect punching air, this must be reopened.
Can confirm this behavior in 21w40a. Here are some extra details regarding this problem.
The Bug:
Boats and armor stands are not destroyed by falling anvils.
Please note that marker armor stands aren't supposed to be destroyed with falling anvils as stated in this comment by [Mojang] Brandon Pearce.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Build the setup as shown in the attachment below. setup.png

- Place an anvil on the diamond blocks above the armor stand and boat, so that they would fall onto them.
- As the anvils lands, take note as to whether or not the armor stand or boat was destroyed from the falling anvil.
Observed Behavior:
Boats and armor stands are not destroyed by falling anvils.
Expected Behavior:
Boats and armor stands would be destroyed by falling anvils.
This works as intended according to the changelog for Minecraft 1.18 Pre-release 1:
Removed world types "Caves" and "Floating islands" from the world creation screen
...and per this tweet from [Mojang] Brandon Pearce:
We removed Cave worlds and Floating Islands because we were never quite supporting them to begin with, and these are world types that can be easily done through data packs in the community. We are now much more officially supporting Large Biomes and Amplified.
Feature requests and suggestions should be posted to feedback.minecraft.net, not to this bug tracker.
The bug
When a player dies near a sculk catalyst, the experience dropped by the player causes sculk blocks to be created. However, [Mojang] Brandon Pearce said in a tweet that player deaths shouldn't cause sculk to spread.
That makes sense to me in two ways. First, the xp a player has is not innate to them, they collected it, in contrast to them dropping from mob deaths. Second, it doesn't make sense for Mojang to intentionally make dying useful outside of it's organic features (teleporting to your spawn point and restoring your health and hunger). Though of course, the decision is up to Mojang.
Steps to reproduce
- Obtain some xp
- Die near a sculk catalyst
Video
This is intended. See tweet by [Mojang] Brandon Pearce
This is intended. Jukeboxes aren't considered a vibration see tweet by [Mojang] Brandon Pearce
[Mojang] Brandon Pearce said on Twitter that they were considering changing the sonic boom to be a magic attack. Also, the 22w17a patch notes say that the sonic boom was changed to bypass shields and deal less damage per attack (but with more frequent attacks). It seems extremely likely that this is intentional.
The bug
Sculk sensors are activated upon interacting with minecarts with hoppers; this shouldn't be the case based on this comment by [Mojang] Brandon Pearce: "Updated to reflect that it should only emit vibrations for entities that hold chests. Hoppers emitting a vibration to begin with is a bug."
To reproduce
- Place a minecart with hopper.
- Place down a sculk sensor.
- Open the minecart with hopper.
Expected result
The sculk sensor would not activate.
Observed result
The sculk sensor activates.
This is working as intended, for wood, only oak buttons and pressure plates are included.
Only weird thing I see is only 1 type of the wood items, buttons, doors etc, are they in the building blocks tab?
Yes they're in the building blocks tab, ones here are only displaying variants with functional difference
So the reason is that the rule for variants in the Redstone tab is that variants should only be present if they have any functional difference. For Rafts, it is a very small functional change, but the reason they're still there is the seat position of passengers is higher.
This is the reason for the raft also being in the tab additionally to regular boats:

Hi again, naturally generated ruined portals generate incomplete portal frames made of obsidian and sometimes along with crying obsidian, though nether portals cannot be activated with crying obsidian in the frame as I said before. You must replace any crying obsidian blocks with normal obsidian blocks to make the Nether Portal work.
As per https://twitter.com/kingbdogz/status/1232734609353388033 by [Mojang] Brandon Pearce, this works as intended, not a bug.
Hi could we get a confirmation that this bug still occurs? I believe this was back when Striders would sometimes have the no gravity bug and because of that not step up blocks, but that bug was resolved a few snapshots ago and should no longer be an issue. I am not able to reproduce this in the latest snapshot.
Hi could we see if this is still a problem? I believe this is fixed in the latest snapshot.
Fantastic! Thank you very much for verifying, happy to see this is fixed!
I verified in breakpoints that this is definitely working. The nature of damage from Soul Speed means it's random, so the attached video doesn't actually prove it's not working. Armor items also are less often affected by Unbreaking, and from what I can tell in the video the Unbreaking item seems to have more durability afterwards.
Yes we implemented FOV Effects option based on this issue.
Both should be broken but "marker" armor stands should be ignored by anvils.
Sculk Sensors here are reacting to the player's action, not the Sculk Sensor itself - so this is working as intended.
Already fixed in 21w13a but wasn't marked as resolved.
The design changed on this and now players do cause Sculk Catalysts to spread Sculk as long as they hold XP.
Updated to reflect that it should only emit vibrations for entities that hold chests. Hoppers emitting a vibration to begin with is a bug.
